Hey there,
My name is Louisa, the original Skipping Girl.
A couple of years ago I found myself, well, losing myself. I was tired-all-the-time, easily frustrated with my children, and spending nowhere near enough time with my husband. It was my husband who came up with the name “skipping girl” and the minute he’d said it I knew that was what I wanted; to re-discover the fun, loud, laugh-all-the-time-Louisa who had gotten herself a little bit lost.
As a small business owner and mother of still quite small people, one of the images that often comes to mind when I think about the state of mothers (and my own journey as a mother-in-business is a bit Hansel-and-Gretel-esque) is that we are all wandering around in a big forest, stumbling, trying to find the path through. But there is no path. What we have instead are other women, who we bump into every so often, who reach out a hand when we trip over a tree root, who say gently “I think this is the way, come with me.”
There has never been a better time to be an entrepreneurial woman, an entrepreneurial mother than right now. And we need to start gathering the stories of those who have gone before and those are walking alongside us now – to turn the path into a freeway.
That’s what Skipping Girl is about.
We are home to a community of really fun, really passionate women. We are deeply passionate about our families, creative about our work, and passionate about how we approach our days.
